City of Angels - another JP success
Cashing in on the enormous success of Company in 2005, Just Pretending took another step into the world of musical theatre, plunging headlong into the innovative and rarely performed City of Angels. The vision of Director Peter Mattessi, City of Angels was to prove JP's biggest and most extravagant show to date with a cast of 15, a 7-piece live band and a big support crew.
A two week run at 45downstairs attracted big crowds and some great reviews. With a storyline as complex as its hard-bitten private-eye protaganist, a score to melt the music stands and some serious sets and costumes, City of Angels stretched Just Pretending close to breaking point.
But in true JP form, the show came through with flying colours. With some great support from our sponsors Vivad and perenial stalwarts Herma the big budget was overcome, the band was sharp as a tack and the cast possibly our best yet. Yet another brilliant Just Pretending production (if we do say so ourselves).
